Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 in Verde Mantis in Pictures and on Video at the Ascari Track
Some of us are quite pleased that Lamborghini has brought back some of the bolder exterior colors of the 1970s (but less thrilled about the green interior) to its new Huracán LP610-4, like the "Verde Mantis" that translates to "Green (Praying) Mantis" seen on this example that was photographed in Marbella, Spain.
If you're wondering how the Huracán ended up in southern Spain, the guys over at Pistonheads have the answer, as the same car was featured in their test drive that included a few laps around the nearby Ascari racetrack (about an hour's drive from Marbella). Evidently, Lamborghini hosted the press event in the region.
The new Huracán that replaces the 10-year old Gallardo will try to steal the thunder from supercars like the McLaren 650S (see Chris Harris' Ascari track drive here) and Ferrari 458. Behind the passenger compartment, you'll find a naturally aspirated 602hp (610PS) 5.2-liter V10 engine driving all four wheels through a newly designed seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Why Did the Old Man Throw a Stone at the Lamborghini Aventador?
Unlike the classic joke about the chicken crossing the road, this question regarding the older man in the baby blue shirt throwing rocks at a Lamborghini Aventador does have a definitive answer: he was clearly annoyed with the driver.
In the VVS (Vertical Video Syndrome) footage, the man is heard yelling "Keep racing" to the driver of the Lamborghini and then proceeds to throw a rock that hits the Italian exotic.
Now, whether he was being a "dick" as the video author says in the clip, or if he had genuine reasons to be mad at the Lamborghini driver is another story that we don't get to find out – though, the presence of the guy filming it would suggest that the Aventador was doing several passes on the road.
Nevertheless, like the guys over at Jalopnik said, it would have been wiser and more mature to call in the cops to get whatever issues he had with the motorist straightened out without resulting to violent acts.
Lamborghini Ad Personam Debuts Patriotic Aventador Nazionale in Beijing
Alongside the Asian debut of the all-new Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 at the Beijing Auto Show, Lamborghini is also showcasing a special Aventador model built by its Ad Personam customizing program. Offered as a coupé, the Lamborghini Aventador Nazionale features dedicated color and trim composed by light exterior colors in combination with the Italian flag and a particular Ad Personam trim in the interior.
The car on show in Beijing features the light and glittered exterior color Bianco Opalis, adorned with a painted Italian flag livery, running as a stripe from the front bonnet over the roof and parts of the engine bonnet to the rear wing. Other standard features are the forged Titanium matt rims Dione in 20-/21-inch with red brake calipers, the transparent engine bonnet and full carbon fiber parts.
On the inside, the Italian flag theme is continued by a leather stripe on the central part of the headliner and the rear bench. The cabin combines the two contrasting colors Nero Ade and Blu Cepheus, while the seats feature Q-citura stitching and a small Italian flag embroidered on their upper part. An embroidered Ad Personam logo on the upper door panel insert, the branding package and extended stitching on the steering wheel underline the exclusive character of the interior.
The Aventador Nazionale is also available in the special Blu Pavo exterior paint with Nero Ade and Bianco Polar interior. The engine remains the same 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 with 700PS (690hp), capable of catapulting the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds and to a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph)
Lamborghini 5-95 by Zagato Revs its Engine at Villa d’Este
Zagato's one-off Lamborghini Gallardo-based 5-95 may feature a controversial design, but I have to admit it is impossible to ignore. For those attending the 2014 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como in Italy over the weekend, the Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato was a curious sight, made even more intriguing by the brutal sound of the 562hp (570PS) 5.2-liter Lamborghini V10 engine.
Based on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, the 5-95 Zagato was commissioned by Albert Spiess, one of the most significant Lamborghini collectors in the world, to mark the Italian design firm’s 95th birthday (1919 – 2014).
As you can see, Zagato managed to hide the Gallardo completely with its design – it’s up to you to decide if that is a good or bad thing.

Lamborghini Urus Could Bring Turbocharging to Sant’Agata Bolognese for the First Time
Lamborghini's upcoming Urus SUV, scheduled to launch in 2017, may be the first ever turbocharged model from the Italian sports car manufacturer. As emissions regulations are more stringent around the world, the Urus may be powered by a turbocharged V8 instead of the brand’s traditional naturally-aspirated V10 or V12 engines.
“An SUV could be a turbo engine for the first time for us,” Stephan Winkelmann told Auto Express at the launch of the Huracan. It’s not the first official hint at possible turbocharged Lamborghini engines, as R&D head Maurizio Reggiani earlier said the company would be forced to use turbocharged engines in the next three to four years.
There are no details about the V8 engine, but the most logical option would be the 552hp 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 unit used by parent company Audi AG in the RS6 and RS7. Since the Urus will share the MLB platform with the new Audi Q7 and Bentley SUV, sharing powertrains is a vital prerequisite for profitability.
Design-wise, the production Urus SUV will stay close to the 2012 concept vehicle (pictured), as Lamborghini chief designer Felipo Perini revealed. “In this moment it is very close [to the Urus concept]. We try to avoid concepts that are not feasible – we can’t afford it. The Urus is amazing, the way it moves. Our goal is to preserve this with the production car,” Perini said.
The Urus will feature an aggressive tuning for the suspension, steering and gearbox in order to be the sportiest SUV on the market.
This is the First-Ever Lamborghini Countach to Sell for Over $1 Million
The Lamborghini Countach is such a radical and recognizable shape, it’s amazing the early ones don’t already cost in the millions… However, things are headed in that direction, as proved by this stunning (Tahiti) blue example, built in 1976.
It just sold at a Bonhams auction for $1.21 / €0.89 million, making it the most expensive of its kind ever.
One of the first 150 examples that came with unique periscope-style side mirrors that earned them the nickname “Periscopa,” this car has additional reasons to have fetched the price that it did.
The odometer reads 16,500 original kilometers, which is just over 10,000 miles. The car was part of the current owner’s collection since 1978 (it was originally sold to a Swiss gentleman) and is, by all accounts, in perfect shape. It does show signs of wear, but with the recently repainted body, it now looks as good as it did new.
Still, it’s an old car from Italy in the 1970, and for that reason alone, “the speedometer and odometer on this Countach are not currently operational.”
New Lamborghini Huracán Review Finds it Slightly More Civilized than Gallardo
Reviews of Lamborghini’s latest baby, the Huracán LP610-4, have started to pour in, with the latest one coming from Auto Express magazine. Like the previous first drive test, this one was filmed during the press event hosted by Lamborghini at the Ascari circuit in Spain.
Obviously, the big question is how the Huracán feels to drive compared to its predecessor, the Gallardo. Although the new model is more powerful and faster, the reviewer found that it’s harder to get the car’s rear end to slide. While the four-wheel-drive setup carries a part of the blame, we must remember that the Gallardo was also AWD too - minus RWD specials like the LP550-2 Valentino Balboni.
However, the Huracán is described as fun to drive, despite the car’s complex electronic systems that intervene quite often to correct the driver’s mistakes.The new entry-level Lamborghini is described by the reviewer as a fusion between modern electronics and old-school theatrics.
To me, that’s another way of saying it is a tamed beast. The market will decide whether that is a good thing or not for a Lamborghini. Point your mouse down to watch the review.
Man Gives Homeless People a Ride in a Lamborghini – Good Deed or Selfish Tease?
YouTube deed- and prank- (see second clip with the Mercedes McLaren) master Dennis Roady took a white Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder to Santa Monica in California and picked up a number of homeless people giving them a quick ride in the Italian supercar.
"I got a 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder today, so I went to OPCC SAMOSHEL in Santa Monica, CA and took a few Homeless people for a wild ride. They loved it so much, it made their week! Spread the Deeds!" wrote Dennis.
Other than providing a teaser sample of what rich people enjoy on a daily basis (and a clickable story for Roady's YouTube channel), I'm not sure what good this does to people who are far less fortunate in life.

7-Year-Old Lamborghini Fan Gets the Best Birthday Present Ever
Lamborghini North Los Angeles organized a nice birthday surprise for a seven-year-old kid who is an obsessed Lamborghini fan, according to his father. In fact, the boy loves the Italian sports cars so much that he is already saving for his own Lamborghini.
Whenever he gets 100% percent in school tests, his father gives him $10, which he saves towards his Lamborghini.
Here’s what Jacob’s dad wrote on Lamborghini North Los Angeles Facebook page: “I know it would be a dream come true for him to be able to sit in Lamborghini or get a short drive in one. His birthday party is in Hancock park at our home. Are there any Lamborghini owners who would like to make a 7 year old believe in dreams?”
As you probably guessed, many Lambo owners responded to the call and showed up at Jacob’s house. The boy’s reaction was more than worth their effort, especially when he learned he would get a ride in an Aventador.
Lamborghini Aventador Smashes Into Parked BMW and Mazda in London
From the sheer number of supercars rolling around on London's crowded streets, it was only a matter of time before something bad happened, and it did on Sunday, fortunately, without any human victims, when a matte-black Lamborghini Aventador LP640-4 hit a Mazda and a parked BMW 3-Series E46 on Sloane Street in Knightsbridge.
Paul Wallace of Supercarsoflondon received video footage from cyclist RichnWilliams, who was behind the Lamborghini just before the accident happened. "The Lamborgini Aventador was apparently racing a Maserati before smashing into a car pulling out of junction. The damage is pretty bad on all cars involved," he said.
We still haven't confirmed the presence of the Maserati, though.
The owner of the stationary BMW was art consultant Lila Afshar. According to the Daily Mail, she told London Evening Standard: "We showed up about three hours after the incident and there was a letter on the windshield. The Lamborghini was being towed away and the owner came up and explained what had happened. He was really apologetic about it."
While we haven't discovered footage of the accident shot at the moment it happened, with so many people on the street, there's a good possibility that someone filmed it – if you find it, you know where to send it…
Lamborghini Urus SUV will Reportedly Be Built in Slovakia from 2017
The Lamborghini Urus SUV will be built at VW Group’s factory in Slovakia starting in 2017, according to sources from within the company. The vehicle will be based on a modified version of VW Group’s MLB platform that will also underpin the next-generation Porsche Cayenne, the same sources told German publication Automobilwoche.
The Lamborghini Urus will be built at the Bratislava plant alongside the Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg, Audi Q7 and bodies of the forthcoming Bentley SUV. To prepare for increased SUV production at the plant, VW is said to have installed the group’s largest metal press in Bratislava, which is capable of producing steel and aluminum body panels.
According to the same report, the automaker will increase the use of reinforced aluminum in future SUVs in order to reduce weight and fuel consumption.
The Urus will be Lamborghini’s first SUV since the LM002 of the 1990s. Popularly known as the Rambo Lambo, the Lamborghini LM002 was discontinued in 1993 after a failed effort to make military vehicles.
It is not just VW Group’s luxury brands adding new SUVs to meet demand from wealthy customers from China, Russia and the Middle East; Maserati also plans to introduce the Levante SUV next year, while Rolls-Royce is getting closer to making a decision on whether to enter the segment.
Lamborghini forecasts record global sales in 2015 because of strong demand for the recently launched Huracan. In 2013, Lamborghini delivered 2,121 supercars, up from 2,083 in 2012. The best ever sales year for the Italian brand was 2008 when it sold 2,430 supercars
Watch a Lamborghini Aventador Crash into a Mazda and a BMW in London!
Earlier today, we shared two videos of the aftermath of the Sunday accident in London involving a Lamborghini Aventador LP640-4. Our suspicions that one of the many bystanders must have captured the accident as it happened turned out to be true.
The video you're about to watch was filmed by Thomas Melsens and shared on Shmee150's YouTube channel.
It shows the moment the matte-black Italian supercar smashed into a Mazda minivan that had already turned halfway on Sloane Street in London's Knightsbridge, with the impact catapulting the Lamborghini into the air before it hit a parked BMW 3-Series E46.
As previously mentioned, fortunately, no one was injured.
Lamborghini Teases Huracán Super Trofeo Race Car
While the all-new Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 has successfully replaced the Gallardo as the brand’s entry-level sports car, the Italian company still has to replace the Gallardo on the racetrack.
That mission belongs to the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, which had its first shakedown on Tuesday on the “Piero Taruffi” Vallelunga circuit in Italy. Unfortunately, Lamborghini did not release photos with the car except one teaser that shows the front end of the racer wearing camouflage.
We can also see a big air intake in the lower part of the bumper and…that’s about it. The car is due to start racing next year in all three Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series' (Europe, Asia and North America). Next season’s Series will feature both the Gallardo and the Huracán which will share the grid but will race in different classes.
For its first track outing, the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo was driven by Lamborghini chief test driver Giorgio Sanna along with the two official Lamborghini Squadra Corse test drivers Adrian Zaugg and Fabio Babini.
“The first shakedown is always a very special moment. I’ve followed the development phase step by step in Sant’Agata Bolognese, and we are all enthusiastic about this very important moment. We have full confidence in both Zaugg and Babini, as well as in the young drivers who will contribute to refining the new car. The new Huracán Super Trofeo will ensure Lamborghini a key role in International motor sport,” said Giorgio Sanna.
